Yousef Srour graduated with a double major in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Economics at University of California, Santa Barbara. With a well-rounded understanding of human behavior and the human condition, he writes about music with an aim to uplift underrepresented artists' stories. As a music journalist, Yousef writes everything from critical reviews to Q&A interviews to features to personal essays. He was born in Vallejo, CA to Egyptian parents and was socialized with a deep love for Bay Area hip-hop. Now, he writes a column on Passion of the Weiss called BAY AREA TYPE BEAT focused on regionalism within Northern California's rap scene. He now resides in Los Angeles, CA.
